Kaesong Old Town preserves one of Korea's strongest concentrations of traditional urban fabric, with tiled roofs, narrow lanes, and old courtyard houses surviving around the city's historic core. The area gives a better sense of everyday pre-modern Korea than the larger monuments alone.
Access depends on the tour and the guide, and not every itinerary includes a walk through the old town. When it is possible, the most rewarding approach is a short slow walk between the Koryo Museum, Sonjuk Bridge, and the traditional houses around the centre.
