The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in Buraimi is one of the many large mosques across Oman built and named for the late Sultan Qaboos. The Buraimi version is a relatively modern construction in classic Omani style — a domed central prayer hall, two minarets, and a broad courtyard.
The mosque is open to non-Muslim visitors at most times outside prayer hours; dress conservatively (long sleeves and trousers for men, a head covering for women) and remove shoes before entering. The interior is austere by Gulf standards — light stonework, restrained ornamentation, a single large chandelier — which is part of its appeal.
