A quiet, overgrown 19th-century cemetery in the cantonment, known locally as the Gora Qabristan ("the foreigners' graveyard"). The headstones tell a familiar story of the British in India — officers, clergymen, wives, infants — felled by disease, accident, or the long heat of the plains before they retired. Some of the stones are in remarkable condition; others have been broken up over the decades by tree roots.
It is a peaceful place to spend half an hour, with old deodar cedars around the perimeter. The gate is normally open in daylight.
