Mangla Fort is one of the historical anchors around Mirpur and Mangla Dam. The surviving fort site is modest compared with the great Mughal and Sikh strongholds elsewhere in the region, but its position near the Jhelum and the reservoir gives it a strong sense of place.
It works best as part of a Mangla outing rather than as a single-purpose trip. Combine it with the dam viewpoints and nearby lakeside stops, and treat the fort as a reminder that this engineered landscape also has older routes, defences, and settlements underneath it.
