Tatta Pani sits about 26 kilometres north of Kotli on the road through the Poonch valley. From Kotli, hire a shared van or taxi at the central bus stand — the drive takes roughly an hour and a half along a winding mountain road that is itself one of the appeals of the trip.
From Islamabad, the most practical option is to drive to Kotli via Mirpur (around four hours), then continue. Foreign visitors should note that Azad Kashmir is a restricted area for non-Pakistani nationals and entry permits must be arranged in advance through the AJK government office in Islamabad.
