Taxis are available for longer trips and can be hired by the day for excursions to Derawar Fort or Lal Suhanra — negotiate a price before setting out. For Derawar Fort, a 4WD vehicle is advisable for the final desert track. Bahawalpur is connected to Lahore, Karachi, and Multan by Pakistan Railways, with the station in the city centre.
