Passu Cones Viewpoint

From the edge of the village, looking east across the Hunza River, the serrated ridge known as the Passu Cones rises in a row of sharp, near-symmetrical limestone spires. The formation is one of the most photographed mountain skylines in Pakistan and appears on the country's 50-rupee note.

The best light is the hour after sunrise, when the cones glow orange before the rest of the valley is in shadow. Many photographers walk out onto the KKH bridge or up the slope behind the village for a clearer foreground.
