Khunjerab National Park

The 2,270 km² national park flanks the Karakoram Highway between Sost and the Chinese border and is one of the last refuges of the Himalayan ibex, blue sheep, Marco Polo sheep and the snow leopard. The park gate is about 20 km north of Sost; rangers collect a small entry fee from foreign visitors.

The road through the park is the main "trail" most visitors will see. Sightings of wildlife are possible from the roadside, especially in the cooler hours and in late autumn. Trekking deeper requires a permit and a guide.
