Qadirpur Gas Field

One of Pakistan's largest onshore gas fields, west of town

A short way west of Khanpur Mahar, the Qadirpur gas field has been one of Pakistan's largest onshore producers since it came on stream in 1995. The gas plant and its flare stack are visible across the flat farmland for miles, and the field has shaped the local economy as much as the older sugarcane and cotton trades.

There is nothing to visit in the conventional sense — the site is fenced and high-security — but the visible infrastructure is the most distinctive feature of the local landscape and a useful reminder that this fertile but poorly known stretch of northern Sindh is significant to the national economy.
