The best season for Swat is late spring through early autumn. Late April and May fill the lower valley with apple and apricot blossom and bring comfortable daytime temperatures of 20–25°C. June through August is the peak of domestic tourism — the upper valley around Kalam and Mahodand fills with families escaping the lowland heat, and prices and crowds rise accordingly.
September and October are arguably the best months for foreign travellers: the summer rush is over, the air is clear, and the apple harvest is in. From November the upper valley starts to close — snow blocks the road to Kalam and Mahodand from December into April. The Malam Jabba ski season runs roughly January through March, conditions permitting.
