Taxila sits just off the Grand Trunk Road, about 35 kilometres northwest of Islamabad. From Islamabad or Rawalpindi you can reach it in roughly 30 minutes by local wagon, bus, or taxi. The Punjab Tourism Corporation offices in major Pakistani cities can arrange guided day tours. If you are driving yourself, the site is well signposted from the GT Road near Taxila town.
