Al-Kasaba Theatre and Cinematheque is the main performing arts venue in Ramallah, presenting theatre, dance, and film in one of the most active cultural programmes in the Palestinian territories. The cinema screens independent and international films that rarely reach Palestinian audiences through other channels.
The theatre has been particularly important for developing Palestinian cinema and theatre; several Palestinian directors who have won international awards have worked closely with Al-Kasaba. Performances and screenings are in Arabic, though international films often have subtitles. Check the programme ahead of your visit — if there is a performance on, attending it gives a far more direct experience of Ramallah's cultural life than any museum.
