Ampere Beach

Ampere Beach is a long stretch of grey-black sand south of the main Sabang surf area, quieter and less developed than its neighbour. The name is a corruption of "Amparo," after a Spanish-era landowner, and the beach has a more local feel — fishermen launch outriggers here in the early morning, and the sunsets are genuinely beautiful when the sky clears in the late afternoon.

The beach is good for walking but the surf here is less consistent than at Sabang. On calm days you can wade into the shallow water along the sandbar; on big days the shore break makes swimming inadvisable. It is a ten-minute tricycle ride from the town centre.
