Butuan's Bancasi Airport (BXU) has flights from Manila (around 1.5 hours) and Cebu (around 45 minutes) with Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia. The airport is about 8 km from the city centre; taxis and tricycles connect it to town.
By land, Butuan is a major bus hub for the CARAGA region. Long-distance buses connect to Cagayan de Oro (around 3 hours), Davao City (around 5 hours), and Surigao City (around 2 hours). The bus terminal is at the centre of the city. Bus companies including Philtranco and Bachelor Express operate these routes.
