Caloocan Cathedral (San Roque Cathedral)

The cathedral of the Diocese of Caloocan, dedicated to Saint Roch, sits a short walk south of Caloocan station. The current building, completed in 1957, replaces an earlier 19th-century church damaged in World War II. Its Spanish-colonial-inspired facade is modest but handsome — twin bell towers flanking a pediment, with a small plaza in front where vendors sell candles and santo statues.

The cathedral is the focus of the city's biggest festival, the Feast of San Roque in mid-August, when processions, fireworks, and fairs fill the surrounding streets. Outside of festival days the church is quiet and worth a quick stop for the calm atmosphere amid the noisy district around it.
