Monumento Station

The northern terminus of LRT Line 1 — one of Metro Manila's main elevated railway lines — sits beside the Bonifacio Monument and is the easiest way to reach Caloocan from central Manila. Built in 1984 as part of the original LRT system, the station is a brutalist concrete structure on stilts that has become a small architectural landmark in its own right.

For visitors the practical value of Monumento is as a transfer point: trains run south to Rizal Park, Quiapo, and Manila City Hall in about half an hour. The area around the station is busy with jeepneys, market stalls, and street food sellers — a quick local snack stop is well worth the brief detour.
