Virgin Island

Virgin Island is a small uninhabited island a short bangka (outrigger boat) ride from Santa Fe, and the most popular island-hopping destination from Bantayan. The island itself is extremely modest — a narrow sandbar with some coconut palms — but the surrounding water is clear, shallow, and excellent for snorkelling. The coral in this part of the Visayan Sea is in reasonably good condition.

Day trips from Santa Fe typically include Virgin Island along with one or two other nearby spots. Boats can be arranged from the beach at Santa Fe; the trip takes about 20 minutes. Bring your own snorkel gear if possible, though rental is available in Santa Fe.

A story
Virgin Island is a small, low-lying sandbar that sits in shallow water a few kilometres north of Santa Fe. At low tide, the sandbar expands dramatically, and it is possible to walk across it in knee-deep water. It has no permanent residents and no development — just white sand, coconut palms, and the surrounding turquoise sea.
