The sardine run is Moalboal's defining experience. Just off Panagsama Beach, the reef drops quickly and dense schools of sardines move in shifting silver clouds close enough for confident swimmers to reach from shore.
You do not need a dive certification to see it, though divers get the more enveloping view. Go early, avoid touching coral, and keep some distance from turtles if they appear near the wall. The fact that this happens so close to land is what makes Moalboal special.
