Built in 1853 during the Spanish colonial period, the Corregidor lighthouse predates the WWII fortifications by nearly a century and remains the oldest surviving structure on the island. It still functions as an operational lighthouse. It stands near the Pacific War Memorial at Topside, the island's highest point, and the combination of the lighthouse tower and the memorial dome makes this the most striking visual vantage on Corregidor — with clear views across Manila Bay on a good day.
