Corregidor is itself a day trip — Manila is the base for all visits, 48 kilometres to the east across Manila Bay and roughly an hour by ferry. The Bataan Peninsula is visible from the island on a clear day, its presence a constant reminder of the campaign that preceded the siege; the towns of Balanga and Pilar are accessible by road from Manila for those who want to see the other side of the Bataan-Corregidor story.
