Dumaguete has an active bar scene for a city its size, fuelled partly by the large student population at Silliman University. The Boulevard, the seafront promenade along Rizal Boulevard, is the main gathering place in the evenings. There are a number of expat-friendly bars and restobar (restaurant-bar) venues south of the city centre along the South Highway.
