A slender, single-drop waterfall that plunges about 30 metres into a cool, boulder-strewn pool in the forest above the town of Valencia, about 14 km from Dumaguete. Reaching it requires a steep downhill hike of around 30 minutes through thick vegetation — concrete steps and a bamboo railing help on the steepest section, but it is still a proper scramble. Bring waterproof footwear.
The effort is rewarded: the falls are genuinely impressive, especially during and just after the wet season when the flow is at full force. Swimming in the pool is possible. The return hike is harder than the descent, and the whole excursion takes a half-day from Dumaguete. Hire a habal-habal to Valencia, then walk from the falls trailhead.
