Rizal Boulevard is the long seafront promenade that runs along the Bohol Sea at the edge of the city. It is the undisputed social heart of Dumaguete: at sunset, families wheel prams here, students sit along the seawall, and vendors sell barbecued corn and buko juice. The Boulevard is where you feel the character of the city most clearly.
Benches face the water and the silhouette of Siquijor Island across the strait. The Belfry — an old Spanish colonial watchtower — stands at one end, and restaurants and cafes line the landward side. The promenade is safe, well-lit, and busy most evenings. It is one of the few genuinely pleasant public spaces in any Philippine provincial city.
