The Lizares Mansion, also known as Villa Lizares, is a Beaux-Arts heritage mansion in the Jaro district of Iloilo, built in 1937 and regarded as one of the finest examples of elite Ilonggo residential architecture from the sugar economy era. The building's exterior is grand and well-preserved, with the elaborate stonework and formal proportions characteristic of the international Beaux-Arts style as interpreted in the Philippines.
The mansion is now part of the University of San Agustin and is used for institutional purposes, but the exterior is fully visible from the street and is widely photographed. The combination of European architectural ambitions, tropical climate adaptations (wide overhanging eaves, deep verandas), and locally available materials gives the building a distinctive character that is hard to place in any single tradition. The Jaro district as a whole has enough heritage architecture to justify an hour's walking tour, with the mansion, cathedral, belfry, and Lopez Heritage House all within easy walking distance.
