The Iloilo Customs House, or Aduana, is one of Iloilo City's most handsome civic buildings, standing by the river with a central tower and American colonial lines. It speaks to the period when Iloilo was a major port city, trading sugar and other goods through an increasingly formal colonial bureaucracy.
The building is best appreciated as part of a heritage walk around the riverfront and old commercial core. Its scale helps explain why Iloilo feels more architecturally substantial than many Philippine provincial cities.
