Marawi Grand Mosque

Islamic Center of Marawi — the largest mosque in the southern Philippines

Address Pangarungan Village

The Marawi Grand Mosque — formally the Islamic Center of Marawi — is the largest mosque in the southern Philippines, a domed building with twin minarets that anchors the north side of the city. It was completed in 1986 as a gift from a delegation of Middle Eastern governments, and the architecture is more Gulf than Filipino: white stone, broad plazas, large domed prayer hall capable of holding several thousand worshippers.

The mosque survived the 2017 siege largely intact and was reopened soon after. Non-Muslim visitors are welcome outside prayer times; dress conservatively, remove shoes at the door, and ask before taking photographs inside.
