Tangub sits at the southern end of the province, on the inland side facing Panguil Bay, with a long stretch of coast and a wedge of mountains immediately behind. The city has earned the title "Christmas Symbols Capital of the Philippines" for its annual December competition, when each of the 55 barangays builds a large-scale lighted Christmas display along the main avenues — well worth a visit if the timing allows.
For the rest of the year, the draw is the inland highlands. The Hoyohoy Highland park, a 20-minute drive up from the centre, has the best mountain views in the province; the trail to the cross at the summit is a popular short hike.
