Coron Town

Coron is a small, dusty town on Busuanga Island, the launching point for the wreck-diving and lake-hopping that make this corner of the Philippines famous. Confusingly, Coron Island itself is a separate, mostly uninhabited karst island across the bay — almost everything you do in Coron starts with a boat ride across.

The town has a handful of mid-range hotels, a dozen good seafood restaurants, several dive shops, and not much else. The waterfront market is worth a quick look at dawn; the main viewpoint, Mount Tapyas, is the standard 700-step pre-dinner workout.
