Immaculate Conception Cathedral

Blue-and-white cathedral anchoring old Puerto Princesa, near the wartime memorial plaza.

The Immaculate Conception Cathedral is the most recognisable building in old Puerto Princesa, painted in cool blues and whites with pointed arches and twin spires facing the bay side of town. It is an easy stop while wandering between the waterfront, Plaza Cuartel, and the older streets around Rizal Avenue.

Inside, the church is quieter and simpler than the facade suggests, which is part of its appeal. Come for a short look rather than a long detour, and pair it with Plaza Cuartel next door, where the city's Second World War history gives this otherwise pleasant corner a much heavier undertone.
