Ground Zero Café

Ground Zero is one of the few proper bars in Vigan's heritage zone, tucked into a colonial-era building a short walk from Calle Crisologo. It draws a mixed crowd of backpackers, local students, and the occasional traveller who has decided to extend their Vigan stay by a day or two, which is most of them. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious — cold San Miguel beer, basic cocktails, and a small food menu that covers Filipino comfort food and snacks.

The bar stays open later than most establishments in the heritage zone, making it effectively the last stop of the evening for those who want one. Live acoustic music appears on some nights; the schedule is informal enough that it is worth asking rather than counting on it.

Vigan is not the place to come looking for a big night out, and Ground Zero reflects that. It is a low-key neighbourhood bar in a town that retires early, which makes it pleasant rather than disappointing — a place to have a couple of drinks, compare notes on the heritage zone, and plan the next day over a beer before the town goes to sleep.
