By air: Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz International Airport (MED) handles flights from Jeddah, Riyadh, and other Saudi cities, plus international routes during the Hajj and Umra seasons. The airport is about 15 km north of the city centre.
By train: The Haramain High Speed Railway connects Medina to Jeddah (about 2 hours) and Mecca (about 2.5 hours), with stops at King Abdullah Economic City and Jeddah Airport. This is the most convenient way to combine a visit to Medina with Mecca.
By road: The main highway from Mecca runs northwest, roughly 400 km. From Jeddah it is about 420 km north on the coastal highway. From Riyadh the drive is around 900 km west. Long-distance buses connect Medina to the main Saudi cities.
