Riyadh is served by King Khalid International Airport (RUH), about 35 kilometres north of the city centre. The airport handles flights from most major cities in the world, with Saudi Arabian Airlines, flynas, and flyadeal operating domestic routes, and major international carriers connecting Riyadh to Europe, Asia, and North America.
From the airport to the city, the Riyadh Metro's Blue Line 1 connects directly to the airport and runs all the way to the city centre and beyond. Taxis are available outside the arrivals hall. The journey to the city centre by road takes between 30 and 60 minutes depending on traffic — rush hours in Riyadh are pronounced.
Riyadh can also be reached overland from Jeddah (about 900 kilometres by road), Dammam on the Gulf coast (about 400 kilometres), and the UAE via the eastern route. Direct bus services connect all major Saudi cities.
