Ta'if is busiest in summer (June to August), when wealthy Saudis from Riyadh, Jeddah and the eastern cities decamp to the cooler plateau. Hotels fill, traffic on the Al Hada road is heavy, and the parks are full every evening. Daytime temperatures are pleasant — typically 25–32°C — and nights are cool.
Spring (March–April) is rose harvest season and the best time to visit the distilleries and farms above the city. The hills are briefly green and the air carries the scent of roses from the surrounding farms.
Winter (December–February) is quiet and surprisingly cold. Daytime temperatures drop to around 15°C, nights can fall close to freezing, and snow occasionally appears on the higher ground at Al Shafa. The rest of the country is at its best at this time, so visitor numbers are low.
Autumn is short and uneventful, with weather similar to spring but without the roses.
