Jeju Island has public buses — the city bus system in Jeju City is reasonable, and express buses run the coastal road. But the island is large (about 75 km east to west) and public transport between attractions is slow and infrequent. A rental car is by far the most practical option for exploring the island properly; prices are reasonable and driving in Jeju is easy. Car rental companies are at the airport and in Jeju City centre.
Taxis are metered and reasonably priced in Jeju City. For getting between distant sights (such as from Jeju City to Seongsan or Seogwipo), taxis become expensive; the intercity bus is more practical. Organised day tours by bus run from the main tourist areas to the major sites; these are popular with Korean domestic tourists and are reasonably priced.
Cycling is popular on certain Olle trail sections but the island's coastal road has busy traffic and is not suitable for cycling as a way of getting around.
