Nuga Gama

Traditional Sri Lankan village restaurant built around a banyan tree at the Cinnamon Grand

Nuga Gama ("Banyan Village") is built around an enormous banyan tree in the grounds of the Cinnamon Grand hotel, reconstructed as a traditional Sri Lankan village setting with clay pots, wooden furniture, and staff in period dress. The food is excellent and unexpectedly authentic: a buffet spread of traditional Sri Lankan curries, sambols, hoppers, string hoppers, and wade, plus a la carte options cooked in clay pots over wood fire.

The setting is theatrical but done with some care — it's a genuine attempt to showcase traditional Sri Lankan cuisine rather than a dumbed-down version for tourists. Good for a relaxed Sunday brunch. Prices are mid-range.
