Colombo's food scene has improved dramatically since 2009 and is now one of the most exciting in South Asia. The city is a genuine Sri Lankan food hub — kottu roti and hoppers are everywhere, but so are excellent Tamil, Malay, Burgher, and contemporary fusion restaurants. Cinnamon Gardens and the Wellawatte seafront have the densest concentrations of good restaurants; the Fort and Pettah are better for street food.
