Kandy is not a heavy drinking city — Sri Lanka is predominantly Buddhist and alcohol is not universally available. The better hotels have bars, and there are a few spots along the lake where a beer with a view is perfectly pleasant. The Queen's Hotel bar is the most atmospheric colonial-era option.
