Kaohsiung's best-known tourist night market, a six-block strip near Formosa Boulevard MRT that comes alive after dark with hundreds of food stalls. Specialities include papaya milkshakes, oyster omelettes, milkfish soup, deep-fried squid and Taiwanese-style sashimi.
Liuhe is more touristy than Ruifeng (see below) but the food is reliably good and the central location makes it easy to find. Aim to arrive around 7pm; most stalls run until midnight. Pricing varies between stalls — pointing and gesturing usually works.
