Chung Tai Chan Monastery is the sight that makes Puli more than a transit town. Its main tower rises above the northern edge of the basin, mixing Buddhist symbolism with a modern, almost civic scale.
The complex is active, so dress and behave as you would in a working religious place. The architecture is the main draw for most visitors, but the surrounding courtyards and views back toward the basin are also worth the trip.
