The New Madrasa stands next to its older neighbour and was built in the 17th or 18th century. The layout is similar — a square plan around a small courtyard — but the brick decoration on the portal is a little more ambitious. The building was restored in the Soviet period.
Today the New Madrasa houses additional museum displays on Tajik handicrafts, costumes, and musical instruments. Together with the Old Madrasa it gives a quick but useful introduction to the material culture of the region.
