The museum is split between the two madrasas and a small modern annex. The collection includes pottery from the surrounding archaeological sites, coins, weapons from the emirate period, and ethnographic material — embroidered robes, suzanis, traditional cradles.
Labels are largely in Tajik and Russian, with a thin English summary at the entrance. The custodian, if he is not asleep on a bench in the courtyard, is usually happy to walk visitors through the highlights for a small tip.
