The Ismaili Centre is one of Khorugh's most striking modern buildings, a calm community and religious complex near the middle of town. Its design borrows from Pamiri vernacular architecture: timber, local materials, deep sheltering forms, and the vertical rhythm of poplars.
For travellers, the interest is partly architectural and partly cultural. Khorugh is the centre of Ismaili life in Tajikistan, and the building makes that visible without turning it into a museum piece.
