Rising 304 metres above the Pratunam district, Baiyoke Tower II was for many years the tallest building in Thailand and remains an unmistakable landmark on the city skyline. The upper floors house a hotel, and the 84th-floor observation deck features a slowly revolving platform that turns a full circle for a panoramic sweep across the sprawling metropolis.
The view is at its best near sunset, when the haze lifts and the city lights begin to flicker on. An entry ticket typically includes a drink, and the open-air deck is a breezy escape from the heat and bustle of the markets far below.
