Nakhon Kasem (Thieves' Market)

The old Thieves' Market — antiques, electronics, and curiosities in narrow Chinatown lanes.

Address Chakrawat Road, Samphanthawong, Bangkok

Nakhon Kasem — the Thieves' Market — earned its name in an era when stolen goods were openly traded in its narrow lanes. The antique trade has since been formalised, and today the area is a wholesale district for electrical components, secondhand electronics, and the occasional genuine antique or curiosity buried among the hardware stalls.

The lanes reward slow browsing. Among the motor parts and wiring, there are old Buddha images, Sino-Thai ceramics, colonial-era clocks, and the kind of junk that becomes collectable over time. Prices are negotiable and the atmosphere distinctly un-touristy. The area is most active in the mornings.
