Thien Fa Foundation is Bangkok's oldest Chinese charitable society, founded in 1902. Its courtyard contains the Guan Yin Shrine, with a solid-teak image of the Goddess of Mercy said to be around 800 years old.
The shrine is especially lively around Chinese New Year, but its Chinese roofline, teak carving and active devotional life make it worth a short stop while walking through Chinatown.
