Bang Pa-In Palace

Royal summer palace blending Thai, Chinese, and European styles

A royal summer palace 18 kilometres south of Ayutthaya, still used by the Thai royal family. The grounds mix Thai, Chinese, and European architectural styles in a way that feels wonderfully eclectic. The Chinese-style Wehat Chamrun Palace and the Thai pavilion in the middle of the lake are the highlights.

A strict dress code is enforced. Long trousers and covered shoulders are required; sarongs are available to borrow at the entrance. Open daily from 8:30am to 4pm.
