Getting Around

The city centre is small enough to walk between the main temples and the riverfront. Samlors (three-wheeled bicycle rickshaws) and songthaews (shared pickup trucks) are the local transport — agree the fare before you get in. Tuk-tuks are also available near the train station.

The Sgt Major Thawee Folk Museum and the Buranathai Buddha Foundry are both about two kilometres south of the station, easily reached on foot, by bicycle, or by tuk-tuk. Wat Chula Mani, five kilometres south, requires a tuk-tuk or motorbike taxi. For day trips to Sukhothai, buses run regularly from the bus station; the journey takes around an hour.
