By plane — Thai Airways and budget carriers operate daily flights from Bangkok (75 minutes). The airport is a short drive west of the city centre.
By train — Several daily services run from Bangkok's Hua Lamphong station, including overnight sleepers. Some trains continue into Malaysia. The journey takes around 16 hours.
By bus — Air-conditioned buses leave from Bangkok's Southern Bus Terminal. The journey takes around 12 hours. Mini buses also depart from Khao San Road.
From Malaysia — Regular buses and minivans connect Hat Yai with Penang, Kuala Lumpur and other Malaysian cities via the border crossing at Sadao.
