The Pattani River runs through the city into Pattani Bay, carrying fishing boats, market traffic and a lot of the town's everyday life. It is not a formal tourist waterfront, but it helps orient the city: government offices and newer districts lie to one side, older markets and commercial streets to the other.
Walk near the bridges in daylight and use the river as a way to understand Pattani's geography. The fishing boats are often the most colourful part of the scene.
