The Trat River is not a destination in itself, but it explains the town and the province: estuaries, fishing communities, fruit farms, and low coastal land draining toward the Gulf. You cross and recross its channels on the way between town, Laem Ngop, and the coast.
Treat it as background scenery rather than a formal sight. If you are heading to Ban Nam Chiao or the ferry piers, slow down at the bridges and you get a better sense of why Trat has always looked outward to the sea.
